January 17, 2006: pt. 2

We went in for our family session appointment today ... but apparently there was a misunderstanding or something. The therapist was nowhere to be found, even after having her paged several times. We ended up leaving a "please call us to reschedule" note on her door.

*frustrated sigh*

We had an appointment with the phsychiatrist yesterday and he changed her medication from Prozac to Effixor. She has been disoriented, exhausted and unable to concentrate at school.

This has been a huge concern for me as exams start Thursday. I knew that letting her do the exams was setting her up for a huge fall. Thankfully the doctor and social worker totally agree and they have written a letter to that effect, which will exempt her from writintg them.

If she had written, she would have bombed and that would have started another depressing cycle. She isn't able to study, therefore she is not even remotely prepared. She was so relieved. I had been asking her if she was worried about exams and she didn't say much. The truth is she was terrified.

I found out yesterday that she had cut again. The doctor tried to explain to her that the scars may not ever go away. She didn't seem to care, she just feels better when she cuts.

This is so depressing sometimes, I just hope that the new meds make a difference.

Take care.

*big hugs for you*
It is so frustrating, I know. We love them & love them, and sometimes it just doesn't seem like it's enough. But it is. Trust that.

I hope the new meds make a huge difference for your daughter. I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers.
